A little bit about us
My name is Tracey Anscombe, I have been a registered childminder since 2012 and have four children of my own, all of which are now in full time education apart from my youngest born October 2020. I began my childminding journey after having my second child, I was unable to find a childcare solution which was the right fit for us.
Having experienced the challenges myself of balancing work and childcare, I understand how difficult it is returning to work after having your child. I know the importance of having nurturing, trusted and reliable childcare in place.
It is very important to me that the individual needs of the children in my care are met, children have a sense of belonging and feel at home during their time with me.
Professional Qualifications and Requirements
I am registered with the Care Inspectorate Wales to provide a childminding service for up to 6 children, between the ages of 0 - 12 years. To meet the terms of my registration I am inspected every three years, inspection reports are available on request or direct from the Care Inspectorate Wales website. Both my husband and I hold clear and up to date DBS check, these are also available for prospective parents to view.
To ensure I continue to provide a high quality service I have attended a variety of courses and plan to continue to do so throughout my childminding career.
Courses to date include:
Level 5 Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning and Development
Paediatric Infant and Child First Aid Level 3 (12 hour) - this is renewed every 3 years
Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety for Catering
Safeguarding Children
Level 4 Rethinking Child Development

Circle Time
In addition to this I am also working towards becoming Hygge in the Early Years accredited setting
What we offer
My childminding service is run from my family home in Ystradowen, conveniently situated between the villages of Pontyclun and Cowbridge. We are in a quiet residential area, and have a large, flat, safe garden which is ideal for young children. I can also provide wrap around care from nearby primary schools for nursery children. Collection can be arranged from Llansannor Primary School, Llangan Primary, Y Bont Faen and Pendoylan CIW School.
We are open Monday to Friday 7.30am to 6.00pm during term time. No retainers charged during school holiday, ideal for teachers and school staff. I am available to work some school holidays, this is subject to demand.
Outings
We are really lucky to have so many lovely places to visit in the local area. We are always out and about whatever the weather, wellies and waterproofs are a must!
Some of the places we visit are Dyffryn Gardens, St Fagans, Amelia Trust Farm, local beaches, Wiggleys Farm, Ogmore Castle, Cosmeston Lakes and Margam Park
Local Groups
There are lots of local group to attend offering a range of activities. Some of our people favourites are Wildfire Forest School (Outdoor Toddler Group), Monkey Music, Memo Starlings Toddler Group. We usually attend around three group per week, depending on children’s needs and interests
Indoor Play
Even though we like to get outdoors as much as possible we do like to visit the occasional play centre, particularly if the weather is utterly miserable. Some of our favourites are Role Play Lane, Pop Up Play Village and Soft Play at the local leisure centre.
At Home
We have lots of resources for all ages to explore at home, these are rotated regularly to cater for children’s needs and interests. We particularly love all things messy and children are given lots of opportunity to play and create. Some of our at home activities include:

Continuity of care, children are often here from babies right up to full time school age and beyond if needed.
Siblings get to stay together throughout their childcare journey.

What our families say
End of an era. Thank you Tracey for everything that you have done, not just for N but for all three girls! I’ve been an emotional wreck today, I’m just so grateful for all the wonderful things that you’ve done with them and the memories that you made together! Best Child minder ever. We will miss you.
Tracey has taken care of my son and daughter for 3 years. She is caring, reliable and provides a first class child care setting. My two children have thrived in her care , and have had so many lovely experiences from days at the beach, to the local farms and days out. Would highly recommend.
